Cross Country team wins fourth straight championship

For the men, senior Henry Pearce placed eighth at the NCAA Midwest Regional and qualified as an individual to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, where he finished in 220th place.

Tulsa senior Ben Preisner finished in third place to lead Tulsa men’s cross-country team to its fourth consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship last fall.

With a time of 25:12.5 in the 8K, Preisner recorded the third top-3 finish at the conference meet of his career to lead the team to its eighth consecutive conference title, dating back to its time as a member of Conference USA. Tulsa won the championship with 53 points to top UConn, which totaled 63 points in second place.

The women finished in fourth place at The American Championships as Tulsa’s top four finishers return in 2018. Sophomore Ashley Barnes clocked 21:59.4 in the 6K race to place ninth overall, thus earning all-conference accolades.

New seating plans unveiled

To encourage a better game day experience and more fan engagement, Tulsa athletics unveiled plans to change seating areas at H.A. Chapman Stadium. General Admission seating will now be available on the east side of the stadium with season tickets priced at $60 for the six home games. The TU student section and Sound of the Hurricane band will now be located on the southeast side of the stadium in Sections 107 and 108. The adjustments to stadium seating will amplify overall crowd noise and create a better home field advantage for the team.

The Mazzio’s Family Fun Zone has moved to Section 114 with a minimum two-seat purchase, totaling $100. Each adult ticket in the family zone is $75 and each youth ticket is only $25. In addition, the grassy area to the south will include entertainment for the kids — inflatable games, face painting and more. Patrons can keep their current Mazzio’s Family Fun Zone seats.

Campus parking lots on 4th Street will be available for only $10.
